Is now available EXCLUSIVELY through
Sorcerer of Sound Music.

for $10.00 + $3.50 s/h

In keeping with Broad Vista Music’s philosophy of presenting a wider spectrum of new music, we are excited to release David Hasting’s debut recording, Electric Cafe.

David Hastings is a northern California synth musician whose influences cover a broad range; from Klause Schultze and Tangerine Dream on one end to George Martin and Frank Zappa synclavier music at the other end of his musical palette. From airy themes to big beat grooves, there is something for many tastes at the Electric Cafe.

This release is a more sequenced and arpeggiated style than our previous releases and we hope this will find a niche in your listening pleasure as well. From bones and drones to beats and treats at Broad Vista Music.

David Hastings adds these comments:

In the begining, there was nothing; an empty room. Over the next two years, piece by piece, an electronic music recording studio was born.

My friend and co-conspirator Biff Johnson, who had just released his cd READING THE BONES, convinced me that now was the time to get off my duff and follow in his wake along the path he was trail blazing on the glorious road of musicial self discovery. With Biff leading the way how could I not follow? ELECTRIC CAFE' was born. After endless nights of recording, listening, overdubbing, and mixing, the project slowly came together.

I was lucky enough to know two people who were able to help me with this project. Biff, with twenty five years
in the music business has uncompromising musical taste, the best ears around, and vast wealth of musical knowledge was able to point the way towards releasing my musical talent. Tom Winter was able to put it all together. He mastered the final cd and assembled photos I took into an artistic cover art that went far beyond my wildest expectations for a great cd jacket.

HastingsDragon.gif (86719 bytes) My approach to music is entirely improvisational. I never play the same thing twice. The music usually starts with the rhythm or pusle, which is the foundation upon which layers of sonic palette strokes are added.

After satisfactory experimentation is achieved, I push the record button and have at it. Some results work better than others, but are always different.

The music on this CD represents the best of them.
